The Wold
The Wold is the northern plains of Rohan with the Westemnet to the southwest and the Brownlands to the west, seperated by the Anduin. The Wold is nominally part of Eastemnet.
Summary
The Wold has a population of approximately 500. Like Eastemnet, the region is dominated by wild, open plains inhabited by nomadic Rohirrim. There are no permanently inhabited settlements in the Wold, but a handful of ruins remain. This includes a large Gondorian ruin near the Anduin, as well as a number of irregularly inhabited shepards huts.
The tent camps of the nomadic Rohirrim dot the landscape, and there are several trampled regions where the herds of the Rohirrim are kept.
The word wold means high, open and uncultivated land in English.
Climate and Ecology
The Wold contains the following ecological zone:
M1 - West and central Pontic herb-rich grass steppes
Architecture
The Wold does not have any remaining permanent settlements, and its nomadic Rohirrim population live in tents. An example of one of these tents can be found on the right.
One of the few permanent Rohirric structures in the Wold includes a large chalk monument to Eorl, the first King of Rohan.
