Pinnath Gelin
Pinnath Gelin (the 'Green Hills') is an upland fief in the far west of Gondor, bounded to the west by the River Lefnui, and to the east by the Morthond. It lay behind the long shoreline fief of Anfalas.
Summary
The lord of the Pinnath Gelin, “Hirluin the Fair of the Green Hills” arrived in Minas Tirith “with three hundreds of gallant green-clad men.” We are not told how they were armed. It is assumed that the region was not particularly wealthy, and that the people of this region were mostly pre-Númenórean in desecent. Pastoralism would most likely dominate the local economy.
Pinnath Gelin contains the following settlements:
- Town 1 - presumably the seat of Hirluin (250)
- Town 2 (175)
- Village 1 (120)
- Village 2 (100)
- 6 hamlets (50-75 each)
- 11 homesteads
- Total population: 1,300
