Lamedon is a hilly region in central Gondor, marked by a series of valleys through which the Ringló and Ciril rivers flowed south. Its western border is Tarlang’s Neck and its northern is the Ered Nimrais. It borders Belfalas to the south and east, with a short border with Lebennin nearer to the mountains.

Summary

It is assumed that this region was fairly well-populated by the Pre-Númenóreans during the colonial period. As the Númenóreans and their descendants were concentrated in Belfalas and in the lands along the Anduin, it is assumed that this region, like Lossarnach, maintained a strong Pre-Númenórean identity well into the Third Age. It avoided Gondor’s wars (civil and otherwise) over the centuries, so the region would not have many forts or walled towns.

It is currently ruled by Angbor.

Lamedon contains the following settlements:

  • Ethring (900)
  • Calembel - the chief town and seat of Angbor (700)
  • 2 garrison towns (200 each)
  • Edhellond (150)
  • 7 hill towns (100-150 each)
  • 8 hamlets (50-75 each)
  • 8 homesteads (25 each)
  • 6 shepherds' dwellings (10 each)

Climate and ecology

Lamedon's climate and vegetation are based on the northern Italian countryside, including the following vegetation zones:
